The Confucius Institute are delighted to host Professor Kerry Brown to give a talk on Monday 15th May titled: 'The World According to Xi Jinping: What is His Vision for China in the 21st Century.'

Date: Monday 15th May 2017
Time: 6pm - 8pm

Abstract
Since becoming Party Secretary in 2012, Xi Jinping has undertaken the most extensive amount of foreign travel by any Chinese leader ever. He has visited over 45 countries, across the world. During those visits he has been articulating grand narratives of China's relationship with countries like the US, Europe, and the partners in the grand Belt Road Initiative. But what does this story actually mean, when put together, and who is it most directed at - domestic audiences, or the wider world? In the era of a protectionist, introspective US and a benighted EU, what sense can truly be made of the notion of a Global China?'
