SCEN Conference - Edinburgh Zoo

On October 8th, a group of St George's students from St George's Upper 5 and Lower 6 attended the SCEN conference at Edinburgh Zoo. It was a meeting for all schools who offer Chinese in some form, ranging from cultural classes to language classes, as well as schools that have exchange programmes with China. We attended as one of the few schools who have the opportunity to learn the language right through to Advanced Higher, and contributed to discussions about trying to increase the amount of schools in Scotland where students can learn Chinese.

We listened to many different talks by speakers and other schools, all of which were very interesting, and communicated about our own experience of learning Chinese. During the day we also got to visit the pandas! Four girls were made SCEN ambassadors and presented with. As a part of a cultural learning experience, a group of us will also be attending the SCEN Youth Summit at Heriot Watt University later this month and the L6 SCEN ambassadors will be speaking.
