Local Chinese Language Teacher Improvement Program

In order to further enhance the professional knowledge, education and teaching ability and professional quality of local Chinese teachers, build a team of outstanding local teachers with high education and teaching level that is in line with the development of International Chinese education, and promote the development of International Chinese teachers to improve quality and efficiency, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as the Center) launched the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship “One Belt and One Road” Local Chinese Language Teacher Improvement Program.

 

I. CRITERIA

1. Non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy.

2. Local full-time and part-time Chinese teachers from countries along the “One Belt and One Road” and countries that incorporate Chinese into the national education system; fresh graduates of bachelor and master’s degrees in Chinese international education major and other related majors.

3. In principle, the age should not exceed 45 years old (uniformly counted on September 1, 2022).

4. Priority will be given to applicants who are alumni of the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship.

 

II. Funding Categories and Application Requirements

1. Funding Category

One-semester training in the related field of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (10 students): enrollment in September 2022. Please refer to Appendix 1 for the funding criteria.

2. Application Requirements

Bachelor's degree or above, graduate of Chinese international education or Chinese language related majors. In-service Chinese teachers are required to provide working certificate and recommendation letter issued by their employed institution, and can be exempted from submitting the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) certificate.

 

III. Application Procedure

1. Online Application

(1) International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship System Application

Applicants can log in to the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship application website and submit application materials online:

Tips for filling in the application: Select the category of "International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship" → " Is there a special scholarship? (select "Yes")" → "‘One Belt and One Road’ Local Chinese Language Teacher Improvement Program" → "Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages for One Semester". Select the recommended institution to which you belong, and select Dalian University of Technology as the receiving institution. Please refer to Appendix II for application guidelines.

Application Deadline (Beijing time): The application deadline for students is May 20th, and the review deadline for recommending institutions and receiving institutions is May 25th.

 

(2) DUT International Student System Application

Applicants can log in to the International Student Application Website of Dalian University of Technology (http://iso.dlut.edu.cn), register a personal account, and fill in the application information.

Tips for filling in the application: Please select "International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship" for the category.

 

2. Review and Admission

(1) The recommending agency to which the applicant belongs will review the application materials and recommend applicants who meet the requirements.

(2) Dalian University of Technology reviews the admission qualifications, selects the candidates, and submits the candidates for pre-admission to the Center.

(3) The Center will review the recommended candidates and announce the review results.

(4) The university will issue the admission notice and visa materials, and the scholarship recipients will register at the time specified in the admission notice of DUT.

 

IV. Application materials

1. Scanned copy of passport photo page;

2. Highest education certificate (or graduation expectation certificate) and transcript;

3. In-service Chinese teachers are required to provide working certificate and recommendation letter issued by their employed institution. If you are a fresh graduate of Chinese international education major or other related majors, you must provide a clear Chinese teaching work agreement;

4. Scanned copies of HSK and HSKK score reports (in-service Chinese teachers can provide working certificate and recommendation letter instead);

5. No criminal record certificate (or no criminal record commitment).

Note: All the above application materials should be in Chinese or English. Certificates not in Chinese and English should be accompanied by notarized Chinese or English translations.

 

V. Others

1. For relevant professional training programs and teaching courses, please consult Dalian University of Technology.

2. During the COVID-19 outbreak period, DUT will determine relevant matters such as enrollment and registration in accordance with relevant national regulations, and notify the students in advance. The entry policies and teaching methods (online/offline) for the 2022-2023 academic year are subject to the latest regulations at that time.

3. Students who fail the physical examination, drop out of school, fail to register on time without permission, or apply for suspension will be disqualified for scholarship.
