Open-access Mandarin Course at the Futures Institute at Dollar Academy

The Futures Institute at Dollar Academy (FIDA) is offering an open-access course introducing learners to the Mandarin language. There are 9 course units available, covering topics such as introductions, family, numbers, days of the week, hobbies, sports, food and drink. Further subject topics are in development, as well as supporting materials introducing learners to wider Chinese culture and providing an enterprise activity. The language units were successfully trialled with S2 students at Grove Academy last session, using a flipped model in which learners worked through the online materials ahead of a weekly live online lesson with Jennifer Millard, a Mandarin specialist teacher at Dollar Academy, to reinforce and extend the learning.

This session, the course will be available free of charge via the online platform www.fida.world and the FIDA team would be delighted to hear from teachers interested in running the course or using the materials to support Mandarin learning in their schools. A link to a taster featuring the first three lessons is provided below, and the contact for inquiries and information on how to access the full course is info@fida.world.
