Leigh Morris and his exciting plans for the Royal Zoological Society Scotland in Education

Leigh Morris, Director of Community Conservation, RZSS writes The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) has delivered fantastic education programmes to Scottish school children at Edinburgh Zoo for many years.

In September 2014, RZSS created a new senior post of Director of Community Conservation, with the broad aim of expanding and enhancing education and outreach for the society, with the bold ambition of inspiring and empowering people towards a greater understanding of the natural world and biodiversity conservation. RZSS will achieve this through an expansion of: schools, teacher and adult programmes at Edinburgh Zoo & The Highland Wildlife Park; outreach delivered in schools (e.g. the current 'Beyond the Panda' & 'Wild about Scotland Bus' projects); creation of a new Zoo Club and wildlife gardening programme; capacity building projects both in the UK and abroad; collaborations and partnerships, both locally and internationally; and through the use of digital technologies, such as on-line learning and social media, to engage with a great many people all over the world! The RZSS brand and ambition is a great one and the vision is that this brand becomes firmly associated with education and conservation globally. RZSS are keen to find and work with like minded individuals and organisations to achieve our vision.
