Chinese Hand-Written Newspaper Collection Activity: "Paint Winter Olympics - Learn Chinese" for Primary and Secondary School Students In Europe

Aiming to let primary and secondary school students from various European countries experience the charm of writing Chinese characters through hand-painted newspapers with the theme of the Winter Olympics. Passing on the spirit of the Winter Olympics with the connotation of "mutual understanding, friendship, solidarity, and fair play the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education solicited for competition work of "Painting Winter Olympics, Learn Chinese" hand-written newspaper. Create a Chinese hand-written newspaper and the award-winning and outstanding works will be displayed on the themed page on their website.

 

★ Collection:

1.    Presenting the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in the perspectives of students through paintings and Chinese characters, and the presentation form is not limited, for example: the Winter Olympics events or elements that epitomize the spirit of the Winter Olympics.

2.   Video of the individual or collective production process of hand-written newspaper and the reflections for participating in the competition.

 

★ Collection time:

September 10 - October 10,  2021

 

★ Participants for the collection:

Primary and secondary school students from all European regions

 

★ Requirements for works:

1.   The hand-written newspaper should be in A3 paper size (42 x 29.7 cm). Please submit a colour scan copy in PDF format, the original file size of which is not less than 2MB and not bigger than 5MB. Each work should come in with a text description within 30 words, including the participants' name and school.

2.    Videos should be shot horizontally with the mobile phone or other professional devices. If shooting with a mobile phone, it is recommended to shoot from multiple angles and use tripods, stabilizers, and other professional aids to ensure the shooting effect. The video should be 1920 x 1080(resolution) in MP4 or MOV format. The duration of the work should be within 5 minutes.

 

★ Request for submitting:

During this activity, please send your work to liuge@chineseplus.net. The mail title format is: Winter Olympics hand-written newspaper + name +submission date (example: “Winter_Olympics_hand-written_newspaper_ZhangSan_20211005”). Please indicate the country, the name of the participants, the school, the name of the work, and the illustration text. The scanned version of the work is added as an attachment in PDF format.

 

★ Awards for participation:

The competition will eventually generate the first, second and third prizes and a few outstanding awards, which are cultural creative products of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

★ Illustration on relevant rights:

1.   All works (hand-written newspapers and videos) are deemed to have granted the right of use to the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education. The Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education has the right to use the works in future public information and cultural activities.

2.    Minors must obtain the consent of their guardians before participating in this activity.
