British Council Connecting Classrooms

You may already be aware of the new Connecting Classrooms programme  advised by the British Council to all schools at the start of this term. It is a great way for you to continue and develop creative and innovative learning with your international partners.  Exciting opportunities in over 50 countries currently exist, many of which will endure into the next round of applications in Feb 2013. However links with such as China, may not present again until into the next financial year.

Connecting Classrooms is designed to help young people learn about global issues and become responsible global citizens, as well as giving them the skills they need to live and work in an increasingly global economy.  It offers school partnerships, professional development courses for teachers, accreditation with the British Council International School Award and the chance to share best practice with international counterparts.  There is the fantastic opportunity for some countries to access travel grants of £1,500 per school to facilitate visits to and from your partner school to develop your partnership and collaborative work.  You can also use the online collaboration tools including project spaces and forums on British Council Schools Online to develop your partnership virtually".

However, there are only a few weeks left to apply for a partnership travel grantbefore the deadline of November 9th.

Look out for further opportunities next year. All opportunities will be posted on our website.
