Olivia Contini Wins Third Place in the 16th Annual UK Chinese Bridge Proficiency Competition
26 April 2017
On Saturday the 22nd of April, I, along with three other students from Edinburgh University, travelled down to London to take part in the 16th Annual UK Chinese Bridge ChineseProficiency Competition. After giving a speech about the beautiful city of Hangzhou, answering five questions about Chinese language, culture and history, and giving a performance where I sang a Chinese song while playing guitar, I was honoured to be awarded a third place prize! In fact, all of us from Edinburgh University made it into the final and won a prize, with Jozette Allan winning the prize for Most Creative, Will Mitchell for Best Performance, and Christopher McNulty, who is only in second year, winning first place, after his outstanding kunqu performance! He will going to China this summer to participate in the worldwide Chinese Bridge Competition.
These successes were only possible because of our teacher Dr Zhu Zhu from Edinburgh University. Through her hard work and planning, along with the patience of our tutors at the Confucius Institute for Scotland, we were able to perfect our performances and bring home all these awards. A big thank you to all of our teachers!
