Invitation to Admission Ceremony to Honorary Fellowship

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the Royal Society of Edinburgh on Friday 29 May 2015 when Professor Bai Chunli Hon FRSE, President, Chinese Academy of Sciences will be admitted to Honorary Fellowship of the Society. This is our highest category of Fellowship.
Professor Bai is a world-renowned leader in nanoscience and technology. He initiated China's research in the field of scanning probe microscopy. His seminal contributions to the study of molecular assembly on solid substrate surfaces were of crucial importance in understanding molecular self-assembly.
In addition to his outstanding scientific achievements, Professor Bai has played a key role in the development of science in China. He was President of the Chinese Chemical Society (1998-2010), and in 2011 became President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2012 he became President of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS).
The Ceremony will take place in the Society's Rooms, 22-26 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2PQ at 3 pm and will be preceded by a reception at 2.30 pm.
