Confucius Institute Summer Chinese Classes

Our newly designed summer school programme will run between 2 July and 2 August 2018. This year we will offer both Daytime and Evening classes.

Daytime Classes

Easy Chinese is a day time introductory course for learners who have no prior knowledge of Chinese. It is designed for those who want a short focused introduction to Chinese language learning. Two and half hours every Thursday morning from 10am-12:30am for five weeks.
For those keen to establish a broader foundation in the language over a short period we recommend our Language Summer School for Beginners. Classes in Abden House will run for five hours each day over five days to cover our standard Chinese Beginners 1 course with the option to continue in the second week to cover in Chinese Beginners 2. This 25 hour per week course is ideal for hard working students who are time pressed but highly motivated.

Evening Classes

As in previous years we are also offering a Twice Weekly Chinese For Beginners running on Monday and Thursday evenings. On this 20 hour course students will study our standard Chinese Beginners 1 course.

New for this summer is our 5 week Chinese Character Introductory Class. On this course we think you can enter the fascinating world of Chinese characters and learning some of the keys to understanding characters.

Finally for our many keen students who want to retain their learning over the summer we will run five Study Clinic on every Tuesday evening from 3 July to 31 July. With clinics running at three levels we can accept all levels of students from beginners to advanced. Each clinic will be organised by language ability, run by a senior teacher and offer both consolidation of previous learning and the opportunity to discuss specific language issues. Students must enrol for a minimum of three sessions.
